Spring Break at Leo Carillo
I feel kind of bad for the kids because this past week – the one where I’ve been going to school and stressed about writing and money and Darby’s been working like crazy packing – was their Spring Break. We’re already in the place financially where we feel like we can’t take any trips, but this week we didn’t really have as much time as I think they deserve.
But fortunately we did get to do some really fun things. Living in such a naturally beautiful place has so many advantages – one them being able to kind of feel like you’re on vacation when you can’t travel far or spend much.
Leo Carillo Beach is where the Karate Kid was filmed! When he was learning the Crane Move on the pier pylons – that was here! It’s honestly one of the most amazing beaches I’ve ever been on, with a huge amount of sea caves and tidal pools and cliffs to climb. It’s incredible.

You know, that does kind of stink about the timing of everything BUT I have to say that you guys are some of the best parents around and you are constantly taking them to incredible places or doing really fun things – even if it’s just playing baseball! It’s almost like it’s spring break all the time for your kids! Most parents in our neighborhood just send their kids outside and I hardly EVER see them spending anytime with their kids. So feel no guilt!
I am sorry you are stressed about money and writing! I wish it were different!
and I wish we could come over and help you guys move!!!
those pics are awesome;-)
Great pics!
This is a time period and it too shall pass. Pop is in the other room watching “independence day” (loudly, I must say). They are obviously having a very bad day or week and I remember it turns out OK. You almost always enjoy life, Jase….you’ll be back in the groove soon. And good writing flows out of times like this.
Your pics are breathtaking. When I visit again, can we hike and hike and hike?
Yes, we’ve really found a number of great places to hike, so definitely!!!
