Carefirst…. ugh… What’s your problem?

I have been notified by the Maryland Insurance Administration that Carefirst Blue Choice has decided to not pay me the ordered settlement and is appealing the decision.

You just have to love large corporations who steal more than $10,000 from individuals who cannot afford it and then refuse to pay it back when caught and ordered to do so, right?

I hope they look back on this decision with regret someday soon.

So what are you going to do? Just wait for their appeal to be overturned??

Here’s hoping that you’ll get a wonderful settlement and lawyer fees.

I found this page on the Carefirst web site:
    http://www.carefirst.com/email/html/ReportSuspectedFraud.html

I sent them the following email:

“It appears to me that CareFirst BlueCross inappropriately charged Jason S. Latshaw premiums that he should not have had to pay. Instead of appealing the decision by the Maryland Insurance Adminstration, I believe that Carefirst should refund Mr. Latshaw his money, as ordered by the Administration.”

This is only a small pebble on your road to humbling this unethical and evil insurance giant!

I agree with Jonathan…pick up that pebble and put it in your sling, Jase!

I am ambivalent on the subject of healthcare falling more beneath the purview of government, but I believe that one of the big problems with health insurance corporations, particularly for very small groups (such as individuals and families) is that the insurers put so much effort into not paying claims, or postponing paying the claims. They exist to make money. They want to show a profit on their bottom line because they are for-profit companies.

Families and individuals don’t have the pull that a larger business has with its contracts worth hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars. If they ripped off someone in a large group, then they would risk losing that contract. With you, all they have to lose is the $10,000 they already have from you. They have absolutely nothing to gain by paying you. It’s wrong and it’s very upsetting.

WHAT????? They can CHOOSE to just not pay? And this is an INSURANCE company that supposedly cares about people who are sick? This is JUST bizarre! I’d say keep after them so they don’t get away with this kind of thing!
